Praise Report

Yesterday afternoon, (Sat, April 3rd), Pastor Abel invited us to come and speak at his church’s district Easter celebration. Easter is celebrated quiet differently here. From what I’ve seen so far, it appears to be pretty common for multiple churches to get together to celebrate. These are generally like “branches” of the same church.

They gather together Saturday evening, sometimes sharing a meal, then they do a combination of praise and worship, prayer, and or delivering a sermon until early in the morning. Then they take a break, sleep in the church for a couple of hours, and resume Easter services Sunday morning, dismissing around lunch time.

We traveled with Pastor Abel to the location of his church’s get together. His brother is actually the pastor. It was about 10pm when we arrived. There were around 300 people present. First there was a short praise and worship session, then Jason spoke, and then I spoke. Pastor Abel translated for both of us. Afterwards I asked if anyone was going through a trial or difficulty that they would like prayer for, and several raised their hands. It was too crowded for people to come forward, so I asked them to keep their hands up and for others around them to reach their hands toward those with their hands raised.

Later when Pastor Abel took us home, he received a text message from one of the men that had been at the service. He said that he had a very bad toothache at the church, but “when that lady prayed for us my toothache went away.”

Praise God!
