Yesterday, we went to an International Conference in Beira. It was hosted by a local church. One of the guest speakers was an East Indian pastor from South Africa. He prayed over and anointed pastors and missionaries including ourselves.
The Holy Spirit’s presence was strong and many of us fell to the floor. I sat on the floor for a long time with one of the other missionaries, Pamela. I began speaking in tongues uncontrollably, and I felt the Holy Spirit tell me, "Set the captives free."
I started questioning Him because I didn't understand if He was referring to a specific people group or place or if He was just speaking in general overall. I asked Him who are the captives He wants me to set free and where? Then I received an understanding that it was people who are in bondage by the devil.
Seconds later a couple of the Indian guys grabbed me and Pamela by the hands, jerked us up from the floor, and there was this demon possessed woman right in front of us. One of them said, "You pray for her!" Four of us women prayed for her and the demon left her. This was the first time I had ever been confronted by someone I knew to be possessed by a demonic spirit. Her body was trembling and she was shaking her head no with a fear in her eyes as we were telling the spirit to leave her. She couldn't seem to speak for a while until the spirit left her. I still couldn't stop speaking in tongues, but some of the missionaries who had dealt with this type of thing before were commanding the spirit to leave in Portuguese. It was quite an experience, but I didn't feel afraid at all, and I knew instantly what was going on even though I couldn't understand the language.
