Moving Day

The past few days we’ve felt a mix of emotions. So much to do. So little time. We’ve been overwhelmed at the daunting task of sorting through a lifetime of material possessions and memories, getting rid of what we can, selling items and giving things away, and yet even with what seemed like little remaining, we barely fit everything into a 5x8 Uhaul and the back of the Tahoe. You never really realize just how much stuff (and junk) you have until you have to pack each and every item in preparation for a move.

Are we excited? Yes! Are we sad? Most definitely. It’s hard to leave what you know behind. God never said it would be easy. Earlier in the year before we ever knew where we would be going or when, He told me our journey would take obedience and sacrifice. Letting go of our home, our possessions, and the best jobs we have ever had and truly loved was not easy. But the biggest sacrifice by far is being away from family and our little Buddy. I’ve never lived more than an hour away from my family. Until 3 years ago I had always lived within 5 mins of my family.

We are journeying into the unknown. When I say unknown I mean unknown to us. God knows what He’s doing, is well aware of all, and capable of anything you can possibly imagine and way beyond. Nothing is unknown to Him, but to us, not knowing at this time what happens after the 3 month Missions School is the unknown. Where will He lead us? Will we be strong enough and obedient to follow?

A couple of years ago I never could have imagined taking a step like this because I had always been fearful of just about everything. Risks were not a part of my vocabulary. But the Lord delivered me from the fear that made my life miserable, and for that I am so grateful. Fear is not of God, and fear causes us to miss out on what He has for all of us.

The past few weeks we’ve had so much to get accomplished that we haven’t spent enough time in His presence. We miss that time with Him. Renewal of strength and faith occurs whenever we spend time in His glorious presence. We are so anxious to get to Mozambique so we can have our full focus on Him and learn even more fully how to be lost in His love and His amazing presence. I want to see God’s love in action. I want to learn how to love others the way He does. There’s a treasure in that field; a treasure so great that nothing can compare. As we find it, we will share it with the world.
